“Science and Technology, Management and Quality: the future of distance education in Brazil and around the world”
The VIII International GUIDE Conference, held on November 2014 at the Universidade Tiradentes (Aracaju, Brazil), attracted 170 participants from 20 different countries. During three days, the conference featured 96 presentations in plenary sessions as well as other sessions dedicated to topics such as the evolution of e-learning; e-learning as a response to the growing demand for access to higher education, the evaluation of students’ outcomes in online education, e-learning and the use of MOOCs and OERs in academic and corporate education, education and communication and instructional design innovation in online programs
The Universidade Tiradentes (UNIT) a Brazilian private higher education institution founded in 1962 with campus in the cities of Aracaju, Itabaiana, Propriá and Estância attracts the interest of local and national institutions, public agencies, media and education companies and experts who took part in a global debate exchanging their experiences with representatives from India, Italy, Portugal, Ecuador, Austria, Jordan, UK, Costa Rica, Canada, USA, Germany, Spain, Guatemala, Argentina, Poland and Mexico.
The new GUIDE project Learn to Be Global, an innovative platform and social network connecting worldwide universities with the global community of students, was officially launched and presenting during the conference. Learn to Be Global is an innovative social platform that connects the world’s leading universities with prospective students and provides access to higher education programs, scholarship opportunities and placement services.
Thanks to the collaboration between GUIDE Association and UNIT a favorable climate was created during the social moments of the event allowing participants to know each other better, discuss the conference topics in an informal way and explore new collaboration opportunities.

VIII International Ikasnabar Conference
The eighth edition of Ikasnabar discussed various topics with guest experts: the importance of network technology in Education, how to improve technologies in schools, how to implement the format PBL (Problem Based Learning), the importance of flipped classes, adopting collaborative learning in current models, where will be mLearning in next years and what is the best way to implement the Web 2.0 services and social networking in Education, personalized instruction, cloud applications, the field of LMS (Learning Management Systems), the scope of the virtual world, OpenEdx platform, etc.
The guests from France, Great Britain, Brazil and other nations took part in the Conference.
